books

The first time you fall in love with a book you remember, you may be 8 or 12, it may be the picture that captives your imagination or the words that seem to float off the page and begin to tell you a story that is for only your ears. Books connect us all. They have existed throughout history, there purpose has an endless range, and there impact on society is impalpable.

To me books represent potential. Despite their size, age, cover, color, and binding – they are lead to the same potential of whom ever is about to open them. The endless knowledge of books is in comprehendible. And it is knowledge that is associated with power. Combine that power with an endless wind spread availability of books ability to be reached in all corners of the world .

The best book that I have currently read is, “The Shadow of the Wind,” by Spanish writer Carlos Ruiz Zafón It story is one that I feel exemplifies the power that books have through its story. The book, takes place in post- Spanish Civil War Barcelona. The main character, Daniel, is brought to the secret Cemetery of Forgotten Books, tradition states that everyone that enters is allowed to take one book from it, and must protect it for life. The books he selects becomes more than a books, its story comes to life and entangles around Daniels own life.
